Welcome to the Southeast Alaska GIS Library
The Southeast Alaska GIS Library is a cooperative project sponsored by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, The Nature Conservancy of Alaska, the University of Alaska Southeast, the US Forest Service, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The project operates under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Our goal is to promote the use of regional geospatial data and applications to further research and improve management of public resources in Southeast Alaska.
In addition, the Library provides a framework for coordinating the acquisition and sharing of spatial data between the public, researchers, educators, and managers. It also provides a forum for discussing regional data standards, future data needs, and opportunities for collaboration.
Notice - September 2009:
In an effort to streamline the delivery of geospatial services and data from the Southeast Alaska GIS Library, we are currently migrating the Library to an enterprise ArcGIS Server infrastructure. This project will be running for the next several months. While it is unexpected that the project will significantly interrupt availability of the current Library data sets, it is anticipated that this site will ultimately be relocated and reformatted to better serve regional geospatial requirements. Planned enhancements to the Southeast Alaska GIS Library site include the availability of dynamic map services, a refresh of crucial regional data sets and a Geoportal for locating regional GIS data.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments related to the migration project, please contact the Library GIS Coordinator.
